Levels of Grade Rankings Within The Colored Belts of Hwa Rang Mul Sul:
With months of required training to receive the grade testing. Head Master "Hud" will determine when a member is ready for testing. Day of testing is closed to the public, only the members testing, Head Master "Hud", and the Board of Black Belts are authorized enter. Regular class training will be canceled for that day.
If a testing member passes his, or hers test 100% each time for the rank tested, they are giving the next rank above the tested grade by Head Master "Hud" for the great accomplishment, and achievement in the perfection of their techniques. This will cut down on the months of training through the color belts to obtain the 1st Dan Black Belt Test, but this takes great dedication, perseverance, and hard work on the part of a member to achieve this high level in oneself , and Hwa Rang Mul Sul.
Each level of colored belt test passed by each member will receive a certification, and a certificate from the Federation within the Hwa Rang Mul Sul system.
White (Huin) Belt -- 10th Grade (Gup) Beginner Level.
White (Huin) Belt -- 9th Grade (Gup).
YELLOW (No-ran) Belt -- 8th Grade (Gup).
YELLOW (No-ran) Belt -- 7th Grade (Gup).
GREEN (Ch'o-rok) Belt -- 6th Grade (Gup).
GREEN (Ch'o-rok) Belt -- 5th Grade (Gup).
BLUE (P'u-run) Belt -- 4th Grade (Gup).
BLUE (P'u-run) Belt -- 3rd Grade (Gup).
RED (Ppal-gan) Belt -- 2nd Grade (Gup).
RED (Ppal-gan) Belt -- 1st Grade (Gup).
The symbol of the Black Stripe within the colored belt is that of a future Black Belt Sabum-nim teacher within the Hwa Rang Mul Sul system. Wearing a colored belt rank with a Black Stripe means that you have been chosen to enter the Black Belt Instructor's training course for 1 year by Head Master "Hud". Not everyone is picked for this course, they have to have the true spirit, right character, honor and dedication to become a teacher of Hwa Rang Mul Sul. The member can be picked at the white belt level to enter this course.
The black stripe within the colored belts also represent the leadership of the Hwarang military groups by their color of their uniforms as in the Hwarang Court of the Shilla Dynasty . All the Hwarang Warriors wore a colored head band that matched their uniform, the colored head band with the black stripe through it represents the leader of each group of the Hwarang as a commander.
The Black Stripe member assist the Black Belt Teachers, and the Head Master. This member is in training for 1 year to become a teacher before he, and or she has taken the Black Belt test, which automatically qualifies them to teach after passing the test. Only Black Stripe members can only assist in teaching.
