Dosa-nim(Master) "Kum", born in South Korea, has trained,
and study extensively in the ancient Korean art of the Royal Buddhist Monastery Martial Arts of (Sunmudo) starting at the early age of 7 years old, when her Grandmother sent her off to a high mountainous Suwon Buddhist Monastery to discipline her outside Seoul, Korea, studying the disciplines, and teachings of Buddhism, and the art of the Royal Buddhist Monastery Martial Arts, called Sunmudo (which means: Seon, and martial arts) training under a Monk named "Ko Kwang Kim" until she was 17 years old.  Dosa-nim "Kum" then enter college in Seoul, Korea, and graduated in business management, and accounting.

Dosa-nim "Kum" recalls some of her early experience to Head Master "Hud" about the days in Korea when she was 7 years old walking this long dirt road to the mountains outside Suwon in the dead of winter minus 35 below, the wind chill was minus 45 below with snow everywhere, and deep.  Her Grandmother walking with her hand, and hand through the snow up into the mountains on a tiny dirt trail that turned into a stone pathway to the monastery high up in the mountains.  Dosa-nim "Kum" states, "that this walk took many hours in the cold to get to the monastery".  Once there her grandmother rang the large bell announcing their arrival, and asking for permission for enter into the monastery.  She says that her grandmother, and her sat in a squat position in front of the monastery for hours in the cold before anyone would open the doors, and accepted them in.  Once inside, then they had to sit again in the squat position before anyone approach them after another few hours.  Dosa-nim "Kum" states, "that once the higher monks accepted her into the monastery as a disciple trainee it was very dark, and late at night.  She says this whole beginning experience really scared her".  For a whole year all she did was hard work around the monastery, scrubbing the stone floors with water, and a rag on her hands/knees all day, and carrying large wooden buckets of water for the floors from a outside well, and also washing all the dishes in the kitchen, and again carrying the large heavy wood buckets from the well for washing the dishes, she had to wash the clothes of the other monks during this period.

Dosa-nim "Kum" states, "that this is where she learned to how use a large oriental style brush broom sweeping all the floors throughout the monastery for hours, and perfecting her movements with this brush while watching the monks practice their martial arts, and weapons".  When she was not doing her job, or working hard the monks would hit her with a stick.  After a year, then she was accepted into the teachings, and education of Buddhism until she was 10 years old, but she still had to do hard work around the monastery doing the same jobs.  Then at that age she was accepted into the training of the martial arts.  One of the biggest thing that really scared her at the beginning entering into the monastery was having her head shaved, and being bald never seeing her long hair ever, she thought it would never grow back again.
