                   Meaning Behind the Colored Belts.

The meaning behind the life force of the colored belts within the system of Hwa Rang Mul Sul.
 
In the Korean system of Hwa Rang Mul Sul colors have been borrowed from the ancient history of Korea, during the period of Kings, Queens of the Royal Courts of old times of the Dynasty of Shilla (BC 57).
 
The Red color was, and still used to represent the highest ranks, and positions of officials in the government hierarchy, political structures within the Royal Courts, Temples, and the system of today's Hwa Rang Mul Sul, it is the "King's" color, and the color of Popes, Cardinals, Bishops, Diplomats with their Red bands across the shoulder, Red ribbons represents heroes' medals of military achievement.  Within the system of today's Hwa Rang Mul Sul dojangs, the Head Master wears the Red dobok(uniform) with gold trim, and Red letters on the black belt.  Red can be found on the Korean flag. Second in command will wear a Blue uniform(dobok) with gold trim, Gold lettering on the black belt.
 
Red is also the color of blood; The life force substance of the mind, and body of a human body.
 
The black stripes within the Hwa Rang Mul Sul colored belts of members that have been chosen to represent, and train the student as a future black belt Sabum-nim(teacher) in the system of Hwa Rang Mul Sul.
 
The colored belts of the Hwa Rang Mul Sul represents the colors of the Hwarang Warrior Knights uniforms during the Shilla Dynasty of the Hwarang Court.  The Hwarang Court had different levels of Hwarang Military trained groups that were separated by color of uniforms, and skills of the Hwarang Warrior Knights.  Blue color of the Hwarang uniform was the beginning training level of the Hwarang Warrior, the second level was Gold(Yellow) uniform which were higher skills, and training of the Hwarang Warrior. The third level of uniform was green for the next high level of the Hwarang Warrior. The last level of uniforms were in red for the very skilled, and advance Hwarang Warrior.  Black was used for the very highly, and secretive level of training of their secret fighters(agents, assassins) the Sul-sa(Knights of the Nights), the Korean "Shadow Warriors" system of the Hwarang Warrior Knights which were very highly skilled in combat fighting, and the art of killing.
 
Colored belts within the system of Hwa Rang Mul Sul, and their meaning.
 
[WHITE Belt] -- (Huin-suek Hyeok-ttae):
 
Symbolizes the purity of innocence, and or the virginity of the soul, and mind of the beginner member of Hwa Rang Mul Sul System.
 
[YELLOW Belt] -- (No-ran-suek Hyeok-ttae):
 
Symbolizes the color of gold ore, a precious metal that never ever rust, as with the knowledge of Hwa Rang Mul Sul is with the member forever, and with patience, cleansing of the mind, and body is to perfect a pure martial arts of Hwa Rang Mul Sul as a diamond.
 
[GREEN Belt] -- (Nok-saek Hyeok-ttae):
 
Symbolizes the growth of tall trees within the forest of life, which is the tallest living thing in the forest, which is the pursuit of knowledge, aiming for heights, and the goal of achievement in the highest levels of esteem as like that of a tall tree within the forest of natural life.
 
[BLUE Belt] -- (Pa-ron-saek Hyeok-ttae):
 
Symbolizes the blue within the skies, with reaching this plateau within Hwa Rang Mul Sul shows not the end of knowledge, but being able to reach to higher levels within the very blueness of the sky, and gain the height of knowledge in Hwa Rang Mul Sul as the tall trees, and go higher into the skies that expands around us, and the universe.
 
[RED Belt] -- (Ppal-gan-saek Hyeok-ttae):
 
Symbolizes the color of the life force of the Sun, and further beyond the blue sky.  Which is the life force that presents energy to the life growth, and warmth of living things below, without this present everything will wither, decay, and die.  Red is the color of blood, the life force of the living body.  Warning the member have self control, patience, and the attacking enemy to use caution to stay away, and never advance in battle.
 
[BLACK Belt] -- (Geom-jeong-saek Hyeok-ttae):
 
Symbolizes the opposite of white, maturity, and highest levels of proficiency within Hwa Rang Mul Sul.  The combinations of all colors of the universe, which is black, the true achievement, understanding the knowledge, wisdom of life within Hwa Rang Mul Sul system.  Mastering one's body, mind, and spirit as one.  The unity of oneself within the universe of Hwa Rang Mul Sul as a whole.
 
The color trims of the black belt's dobok, left chest patch symbols, and characters written in Chinese/Korean on the black belts, represents the authority, and hierarchies of command Dosa-nim, Dosa Sabum-nims, and Sabum-nims within the Hwa Rang Mul Sul system, and The Korean Hwarang Martial Arts Federation®.

Represents the member Black Belt Dans Not Qualified, or Authorized To Teach Hwa Rang Mul Sul As A Sabum-nim(Teacher).

Il Dan - 1st Dan, Ye Dan - 2nd Dan, Sam Dan - 3rd Dan
 
The Dan Ranks, and Colors Shown Below Represent the Black Belts Who are Qualified, and Authorized to Teach as a Sabum-nim(Teacher), Dosa Sabim-nim(Master Teacher), and Dosa-nim(Master) within Hwa Rang Mul Sul, and under The Korean Hwarang Martial Arts Fedeartion®.
