TYING THE HWA RANG MUL SUL BELT(Hyeok-ttae).
_____________________
Do not let your belt touch the floor (this is disrespect of your belt to touch the ground just like the flag of a country).
With Black Belts you start with the Korean writing of Master "Hud", and his Master "Kim, Cheung" on the left side first, and your Name/Dan Rank on the right side.
Wrap the belt around your body without twisting it in anyway(check for twist), and bring it around to the left side, and cross the belt over in front of you releasing your left hand(cross over is tight). Then wrap the belt once more around your waist.
After the second wrap around your waist, then cross the belt over in front, as you see the left belt is on top, while the belt on the right is under.
Now you see the proper cross over of the belt, this procedure is the same with the lower rank colored belts tying their belts.
Next wrap the left belt under the entire cross over, and pull it through, then lay it down over the front cross over.
Next check the ends of your belt to make sure they are equal just before tying the belt.
Take the left side of the belt folding it over, then place the right side of the belt over, and hang down over the left side belt preparing to make the knot to tie, and secure the belt.
Now pull the right belt up through the loop of the of the left belt, and prepare to make the cross over tie by pulling each ends outward to make the proper knot in front.
This is the proper tying of the belt for Black Belts, and White to Red belts with this knot in front, make very sure this knot is properly centered in front of the body, and uniform, dress with respect of yourself, rank, and your belt at all times, or discipline will be given to those who brake this.
Check to make sure that the ends of the belt are equal after tying the belt properly, if not untie the knot, and re-tie the belt until the ends are even.
Check to see if the belt is twisted from the front with both hands, and all the way around to the rear, and make it looks very neat, and worn proper with respect. Do not wear your belt like a gunslinger.
Make sure you use both hands all the way to the rear to check to see there is no twist, and or cross over with the belt.
We want the belt look like we are wearing a single belt with a double wrap from the rear to the sides.
With the lettering on the Dan Black Belt, your name, title, and dan rank is worn on the left side, and the Korean lettering which is Master "Hud", and his Master "Kim" before him is worn on the right side at all times. Make sure the ends of your belt are equal at all times.
Keep practicing this proper procedures for tying a Korean belt(Hyok-dae) for all ranks from White belts to Red belts, and Black Belts Dan ranks in the Hwa Rang Mul Sul system. Not properly tying ones belt is disrespect towards the belt, Hwa Rang Mul Sul, Master "Hud's teachings, your dojang, and yourself, discipline will be given to all those who don't tie the belt properly.
"Have pride, honor, and respect towards all belts of Hwa Rang Mul Sul just as you give respect towards the flag of your country".
Dosa-nim (Master )"Hud"
